My welding-gas tank is having a refill, so there was no welding to do Today. In the meantime I can prepare the welding spots by grinding and cleaning them thoroughly. Today I did all four parts on the chassis beams where the outriggers are to be welded-in next time. It took a few hours after all and because there was little left to do afterwards, I took some time to clean the floor. I hoisted the bus about three feet up, removed the trolley underneath and repositioned the anvil up front. The bus weighs less on the left side because of the missing cargo doors. I placed myself in the bus to test the strength of the chain block and bands. No strange sounds. This was the topmost position of the chainblock, but is was enough to have the broom under the bus for sweeping the floor. On the first photo you can see the bus hanging free, about three feet high above the floor. The second photo shows the anvil in the front and the last one shows one of the four grinded attachment point for the outriggers. (This is the one on front-left: the spot looks black-ish, but is clean metal in real. I guess the flash of my camera gives a wrong impression ...)
Tomorrow I will go back to apply some Fertan to the newly cleaned surfaces and Tuesday I will remove the remains with water (as they say in the instructions ...)
