Gelukkig scheen vandaag de zon ook weer een keer en konden we de garagedeur lekker openzetten. Het leverde de volgende -te blauwe- plaatjes op, want ik had de camera natuurlijk nog op kunstlicht staan (ook al de schuld van dit grauwe voorjaar ...)
En bij mijn bus nadert het omkeerpunt ... hmmm ... misschien wat optimistisch, maar vanaf deze week wordt er iets aan het metaal toegevoegd in plaats van eraf geslepen. Zoals gezegd ... vandaag heb ik de laatste balkuitlopen aan de voorkant er af geslepen. Ik was benieuwd naar de toestand van het chassis ter plaatse en dat viel mee. Er zaten geen gaten onder, al is er wel wat roest aanwezig. Zie onderstaande plaatjes voor een overzicht.
Op de eerste foto zie je het restant van de balkuitloop linksvoor, na het verwijderen van de kriksteun. Hier is goed te zien dat over de onderste helft een tweede buitenlaag metaal is aangebracht ...

Deze foto van de rechterkant laat goed zien hoe het restant metaal er aan toe was na het verwijderen van de buitenste laag.
En op de foto hieronder is het hele ding eraf, inclusief een stuk van de U-balk die er bovenop zat. Iets verder naar achteren op de foto zie je de tunnels voor handremkabels (dun) en schakelarm (dikker). Op de plaats waar de uitloop zat vastgelast deze keer geen gaten in het chassis (pfoei..)
... het wachten is nu op Dinsdag ...
Worked in the barn for the first time in weeks today. Did some real work this time: I removed the two frontal outriggers. Meanwhile Henk solved the problem with the rear lights of his T3. There was a layer of water in the socket for the trailerlights connector wich caused a continuous shortcut. Each time a fuse was replaced it blew out when switching the lights on. So much for the grey and wet spring we have had this year. Troubleshooting electrical malfunctions isn't either of our hobbies, and Henk could have had a hard time, concerning the complexity of his T3's electrical wiring. (Top photo).
Great thing we had some sunshine today. We left the garage door open this time, which is shown in the next two photos. (They're a little too blue ... I left the camerasettings on artificial lighting conditions by accident ... I blame it on the sun's absence for too many weeks).
Work on my bus is reaching a turning point ... ehhmmm ... maybe a little too optimistic, but starting on Tuesday there will be metal added to the construction instead of being cut away. As mentioned earlier; I removed the two front outriggers today, both to inspect the metal beams under it and to make place for the welding activities on Tuesday. Conditions on front were better than on the rear; there were no holes, although there was some rust indeed.
The remaining photos are all about the outriggers and their removal. Top of the row is a cross section through the left front outrigger, after cutting away the jack support. It shows clearly how a piece of metal is welded over the lower half . On the next two, you can see me grinding away the left-front outrigger, both from outside and inside. Then there's a photo showing the remains of what's under the poorly welded-on right-front outrigger and finally, after the removal of the same thing, together with most part of the U-bar on top of it. Somewhat more in the background, you can see the three ducts for hand-brake cables and gear shift rod.
The place where the outrigger was fixed shows no holes this time ...
... now we wait for Tuesday ...
