53. Wielkast linksachter ... (Wheelwell rear left ...)

Vandaag een paar uurtjes gewerkt aan de binnenkant van de wielkast linksachter. Een deel van dit stuk plaatwerk was behoorlijk vergaan en ik had nog wat nieuw plaatmateriaal liggen. Eerst weer even foto's gemaakt van de bevestiging, wat maten genomen en tenslotte het metaal rondom goed gereinigd met schuurschijf en -spons. Zo is goed te zien hoe het zaakje aan elkaar zit. Er zat ook nog een restant van de laadvloer aan vastgelast; zie foto hieronder.

Voorzichtig met de pneumatische slijptol langs een kaarsrechte lijn het onderstuk afgeslepen. Op deze foto's kun je precies zien wat er is verwijderd:

Het nieuwe blik is al op maat gemaakt en een klein beetje in vorm geklopt.

Today I spent a few hours on the left rear wheel well. The lower part of it was rusted badly and I had new sheet metal available to cut new parts from. Made some photos before and sketched the dimensions on paper. Cleaned the metal with a grinder so that the way the metal was attached was clearly visible and finally I cut the rusty part away along a straight line with the pneumatic grinder. (works great, with surgical precision!!) Part of the cargo floor was still welded onto the arch as you can see on the first photo. The latter three photos show what part I removed a little later. A new part is cut and shaped roughly already; will fix it next week.
