60. Stijlen aan dorpel bevestigd ... (Connecting style-ends to sill)

Op deze zondag, 23-1, zijn twee van de half vergane onderkanten van de zijstijlen in de linkerwand vervangen en aan de linkerdorpel vastgelast. Henk heeft het pas- en meetwerk verricht en de stijl-uitlopen op hun plek gefixeerd met afstandshouders, waarna ik met voorzichtig lassen de uitloopjes (ca.20cm lang) heb vastgelast. Eerst even aanhechten, daarna definitief vastlassen. Het ging niet meteen helemaal goed (hier en daar een gaatje in het materiaal), maar even later toch de slag te pakken gekregen. De kooi-constructie begint weer terug te komen.

Om binnenkort de plaatsing van de nieuwe vloer mogelijk te maken heeft Henk de laatste restjes van de oude vloer verwijderd (achterin; het deel dat om/over de warme-lucht buizen en tussen de twee wielkasten achter nog zat vastgelast). zie foto hieronder ...

Maandag bij Autocraft nog nieuw plaatmateriaal besteld ter vervanging van delen van de wielkasten en als het goed gaat hebben we die deze week nog in huis.

This Sunday (Jan.23rd) we replaced the rusty ends of two of the vertical styles in the left side of the bus. Henk took care of the measuring, fitting and positioning of the crescent-shaped bar-ends while I welded the parts together afterwards. It wasn't an easy job. I burned some holes in the thin metal, but after a little adjusting I was able to fix even that. Finally I welded the bar-ends to the left inner sill, which restored the cage constuction of the car. (See the first two photos).
In the meantime Henk removed the remaining parts of the old cargo floor in the back of the bus, just above the heat ducts and the rear axle and between the two rear wheel wells. (Third photo). Soon we can fit the new cargo floor in place. I ordered four parts at Autocraft last Monday, to repair the inner rear wheel wells. They will probably arrive this week so that we can fix that first next weekend ...
