Because of an e-mail from Autocraft that slipped past my attention the shipment of metalware still hadn't arrived yet. What happened was this: In my enthousiasm I was ordering all kinds of lower ends for B-, C- and D-posts while the D-posts were for bus types other than mine and therefore wouldn't fit. Karl (Autocraft) mailed me for this, waiting for my reaction before shipping anything. Unfortunately for some reason this message ended up in my junk e-mail folder. (I hardly ever check my junk e-mail folder because I trust my spamfilter). So, only on Thursday I phoned them to find out what had happened. He told me about the wrong parts I had chosen to order and that he waited for my response. I suggested to ship the parts that were right anyhow and he suggested to make the correct lower D-posts and send them afterwards. Even without the new parts there was still enough to do in the garage. There were lots of welds to finish and I started working on the lower A-post left-front. We had those replacement parts in store for over a year, so why not start there. Removing the remains of the rusty post-end was anything but easy. Before removing the part I had to fix the position of the remaining part of the dog-leg. Cutting through the connection between this part and the A-post corner leaves this part connected on only one side, which could be difficult to position when later on the front door needs to fit. I fixed this with a temporarily welded metal strip. Both grinder and saw were needed to cut the lower part of the A-post away. Took half an hour. Fixing the replacement part was not easy either, rust had eaten its way higher up the post than the length of the new part, so we had to make additional fitting pieces of metal.
